Thomas was convicted of stealing fown on Jan 31 1832 at the Chester assizes and was sentenced to be transported to Australia. He was transported on the convict ship "Cumberland Hulk" in January 1833, and arrived in New South Wales later that year. He eventualyl earned his "ticket of leave" and setlled near Wagga Wagga NSW about 1848. His life and times are the subject of a fascinating biography and family history entitled "Thomas Stockton - Convict" written by his great-great-grandson, Maurice Stockton, in 1990.

Robert left Bunbury in 1838 and walked to Manchester to seek work. He was employed for 33 years with the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. Robert was a devoted father and an accomplished musician. During his lifetime, he resided at a number of residences in and around Manchester: Queen Street, Manchester, 5 Feb 1843; Sovereign Street, Pendleton, Manchester, 23 Sep 1843; New Hall Fold, 2 Sep 1845; Kent's Place, Ordsall, Manchester, 17 Feb 1848; Rochdale Road, Manchester, 1848- 1850; Kent's Place, Strangeways, Manchester, 1850; Hunt's Bank, Strangeways, 1850 -1873; 5 Gore Hill Terrace, Pendleton, after July 1873.
His son Robert (1859-1937) wrote a comprehensive biography of his father in 1889 which endures today as not only a valuable family history, but also an intriguing description of northwest England in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Robert was apparently the author of his father's biography 1in 1889, and its supplement 34 years later. He was married and widowed twice: to M.E. Vamplew in 1882 (died 1887) and Florence Jackson in 1891 (died 1903). He had one son and one daughter, both of whom died in infancy. He worked initially for 7 years with the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, and for 44 years with Messrs. Agnew, Fine Art Dealers. He spent the last 25 years in London, where his sister Martha Ann lived with him for a period of time.Robert married (1) M.E. Vamplew on 1882. M.E. died 1887. Robert also married (2) Florence Jackson after 1887. Florence died 1903. 52 M x Alexander Stockton was born 1 09 Feb 1862 in Manchester Lancs UK. He died 2 10 Feb 1862 in Manchester Lancs UK.
