Joseph, a shoemaker and farmer, was charged with poaching fowl on 31 Dec 1832 with sons Thomas and Joseph. He was sentenced to be transported to Australia on 19 Jan 1833, but was instead imprisoned and later pardoned on 17 Jul 1835, probably for ill-health. He is referred to briefly in the 1889 biograhy of his son Robert (qv).
