Saturday, March 17 - Jessie (Zdzislawa) Jesionek passed away at the Roy Adams Centre at Linhaven in St Catharines at the age of 82. What can I say about my Mom? For those who knew Mom, she was not only the consummate party giver, but often the reason for the party. Mom did not pause in her life but continued learning, and taught us all about life and what it meant. Her spirit of fun and zest for living was always present. Jessie is survived by her daughter Barbara Cimek, her son-in-law Richard, grandson Louis Klein of New York, his wife Leah and great-granddaughter Ava Sophie Klein, grandson Ephrom Klein of Toronto, Jennifer McMartin and great-grandson Ever Jonah Klein. Jessie lost the love of her life, Eryk, on January 20, 2011. Whenever the grandsons would visit, Jessie let them know how much she loved them and what a heaven sent blessing they were. Nine years ago, Barbara returned to Welland and experienced the greatest good fortune living next door to her parents. Jessie was born in Zamosc, Poland on September 1, 1929 and accomplished so much in Canada. Whether it was a driver’s license or a cloth inspector at Wabasso, Jessie always plowed forward in cooking, baking, crafts and sewing. Mother is a simple word, but everything her family is today is enriched in life, in so many ways. She set us straight and set us free and that’s what Mother meant to me.

We thank the staff at Linhaven for their superior and compassionate care and their ability to learn Polish. Jessie will be missed by her dear and long time friend Jane Kolbuc, who visited with Mom at the Roy Adams Centre and Garden City Manor.

A service for the family was conducted by Rev. Stan Bijak on Thursday, March 22nd and interment followed in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery.
