Edward was born in Miedzybrodzie, Poland on July 21, 1921 and joyfully welcomed into the presence of Jesus on December 30, 2007 in Tilsonburg, Ontario. Beloved husband of 62 years of Irene (Reczynski) Kaczmarczyk and loved father of: Mariola (Anthony Pleli) and Edward Kaczmarczyk (Alison). Proud and loving grandfather of Erika and Joseph Pleli; Eric and Justin Kaczmarczyk. Survivied by a brother Daniel (Helen) Kaczmarczyk and two brothers and three sisters in Poland, and one sister in Germany. Reunited in Heaven with three sisters and two brothers and his parents Joseph and Maria Kaczmarczyk. Also survived by a sister-in-law Natalie Jodlowski and her friend Ziggy, brother in-laws Richard Reczynski (Stasia) and nieces and nephews and cousins residing in Poland, Germany, Canada, France and the USA. Edward will be missed by Eric and Jessie Jesionek and Welland friends as well.
Edward and Irene were long time members of Sts Peter and Paul Parish. They recently moved to be with their daughter. Funeral services were handled by the Verhoeve Funeral Home in Tillsonburg.

passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital in her 92nd year.
Loving mother of Genevieve Peter, Anthony Silvestri (Joy) and Joanne Silvestri. Cherished grandmother of David Peter, Lorraine Wigmore (Steve), Janet Peter, Klaudia Savona (Louie), Tina Turner (Paul), Lori Tronko and Danny Tronko and 8 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Irene Gulla. Predeceased by her beloved husband Erminio (February 18, 1982), by her parents Nunzio and Genoueffa Colangelo, son-in-law Lawrence Peter, brother George Colangelo and sister Annie Pasquantino.
At Mrs. Silvestri’s request a private family service will take place.

Saturday, May 31 - 5:00 p.m. - Our parishioner Gerard Demers was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate for the Diocese of St. Catharines at St. Alfred’s Church. Please remember him in your prayers.
Sunday, June 1 - 9:00 a.m. - all were cordially invited after Mass to enjoy coffee, tea & dessert in the Parish Hall to meet with our new Deacon Gerard Demers (compliments of the Rosary Society).
Monday, June 2 - Pauline Denega (Gonsior)
passed away peacefully at the Niagara Arms Retirement Residence in her 93rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Wladyslaw (Walter) Denega. Dear mother of Gerhard Gonschior and his wife Mary. Loving grandmother of Sandra Bergin and her husband Roy and Mara Bray and her husband Mike. Cherished great grandmother of Kaitlyn and Riley Bergin and Stefanie and Kailey Bray. She is survived by her sister Matilde and nieces and nephews in Germany. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Gonsior and sisters Maria and Annie. Pauline was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Rosary Society and Seniors Club, Polish Seniors Club, Canadian Polish Society (Welland) and the ladies auxiliary of the former Royal Canadian Legion Branch 558.
The family received friends and relatives at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday, June 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Friday, June 6th at 10 o’clock. Rite of Committal followed at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Sts. Monday, June 23 - 2:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club held their Annual BBQ in the Parish Hall. Dinner was served at 4 PM. $2.00 per member was collected at the door.
Wednesday, July 9 - Franciszek (Frank) Blaszczuk
passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Welland General Hospital in his 85th year.
Beloved husband of Bernice (nee Konop) for 59 years. Loving father of Barbara and her husband Tony Gallaccio. Cherished grandfather of Dr. Alicia Gallaccio (Chris Caporicci), and Lauren Gallaccio. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Frank was deported by the Russians from Poland to the USSR in 1940 where he was released on amnesty in 1940. He joined the Polish Army in USSR on February 24, 1942. Evacuated with his unit to Persia and came under British command in the Middle East on April 1, 1942 where he served from 1942 – 1943 and in Italy from 1943 – 1946. Frank took part in the Italian operations from December 12, 1943 to May 2, 1945. After his honourable discharge he immigrated to Canada. Frank was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 and the former Branch 558 (Polish Branch). He retired from Page Hersey with over 35 years of service. Frank was extremely dedicated to his family and they will remember him as a loving selfless man who always put others before himself. He was a man who loved to travel and his stories of Mexico will always make his family smile.
The family received friends and family at the J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday, July 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil was held at 8 o’clock.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Friday morning, July 11th at 11 o’clock.
Rite of Committal followed at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Highway 20 just west of Hwy 406.

Tuesday, July 15 - Charles (Charlie) Silenzi
passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, at the Welland Hospital in his 65th year.
Beloved husband of Carla Silenzi (nee Francescutti) for 44 years. Loving father of Michael and his wife Darlene and Mark and his wife Judy. Cherished grandfather of Courtney, Dawson, Blake and Jordan. Dear brother of John and his wife Angie. Predeceased by his parents John and Eleonore Silenzi and sister Ann Fazzari. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and everyone in the Francescutti family. Charles operated Silenzi Variety, which was started by his grandparents for many years until his retirement when he became a crossing guard for children. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and was an avid Leaf and Yankee’s fan. His passions also included watch collecting and garage sales.
The family received their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday, July 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held at 8 o’clock.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Friday morning, July 18th at 11 o’clock.

Thursday, August 28 - Elisabetta Pacilli (Ioannoni) passed away suddenly at the Welland Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother of John (Rose), Stella (Mario Mannella) and Dino (Lorelei). Cherished grandmother of Chad (Vicki), Chris (Lindsay), Deanna (Jay), Matthew, Vincent and Sergio and great grandmother of Francesca. Dear sister of Carlo, Piero, Assunta, Umberto and Dora. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Vincenzo (1984), son Dino (1949), sister Mariannina and brother Vincenzo.
The family received their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held on Sunday at 3 o’clock.

passed away peacefully at the Port Colborne Hospital in her 90th year.
Olga was born on May 19, 1919 in Toronto and came to Welland with her parents the late Dan and Anna Dolishny in 1920. On November 26, 1946 she married her beloved husband Thomas 'Tom' who predeceased her in 2006. Dear mother of Rick and his wife Marcia of California. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Mary Demark and brothers Bill and Steve Dolishny. Olga was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Sts. Peter and Paul Seniors Club, Rose City Seniors, U. E. Seniors and the Workers Benevolent Association.
The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 1st at 11 AM.

Monday, October 6 - 12:30 p.m. - The Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club will enjoy a “Special” Thanksgiving Dinner in the parish hall. Two dollars per person will be collected at the door.
Saturday, October 18 - 5:00 p.m. - The Rosary Society will participate as a group at 5 o’clock Mass today. Everyone welcome.
Sunday, November 9 - 12:30 p.m. - The Polish-Canadian Association of Welland invites all to celebrate Remembrance Day with Dinner at the Polish Hall. Tickets - $10 per person.

Monday, November 12 - Bronislawa "Bernice" Kinastowski (Piatkowski)
passed away peacefully at the Extendicare Unit Guildwood in her 92nd year.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband Wladyslaw (Walter) in 2003, her parents Antoni and Maria, two brothers and four sisters. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Anna and her husband Lionel Sampson of Toronto as well as nephews and nieces in Poland and New York. Bernice was born on March 25, 1917 in Debsko Poland. Her studies at the University of Poznan, Poland were interrupted by W.W.II during which time she was active in the Polish underground resistance movement. Bernice escaped the post war communist regime by fleeing to Sweden and eventually settled in Canada where she married Walter in 1953 and with him, operated Silesia Company in Welland until 1992. Bernice moved to Toronto in 2005 to be closer to her only daughter, Anna. Bernice was a kind and extremely generous person with amazing strength and determination.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church on Monday November 17, 2008 at 11 o'clock.
Private internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friday, November 14 - Stella Wojcik passed away suddenly at her residence in Welland at age 81.
Cherished wife for 50 years to the late Jan Wojcik (1999). Beloved mother of George Wojcik (Anne) of Oakville and Joanne Serre (Wayne) of London and the late Darlene Wojcik (1992). Loved grandmother of Heather, Alexander and Sarah Wojcik, Michelle (Geoff Hare), Jennifer, Christopher, Cassandra and Dylan Serre. Loving great-grandmother of Addison. Mrs. Wojcik is also survived by her dear friend Eugenia Sypiewski of Montreal. Born in Szepel Distr Luck, Poland, Mrs. Wojcik moved to Canada in 1948, living in Montreal before coming to Welland in 1949. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Friends are invited to visit the family on Monday, November 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland.
The Funeral Mass will celebrated at the Parish Community of St. Kevin on Tuesday, November 18th at 2:30 p.m. with the Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

- 10th Anniversary of the blessing of our new church is today.
Solemn Eucharist was celebrated at 5 o’clock by Bishop James Wingle as the main celebrant and homilist, assisted by Deacon Gerry Demers; concelebrants: Provincial of the Oblates Fr. Janusz Błażejak, former pastor Fr. Jan Wądołowski, Fr. Ben Vanco, Fr. Mel Stevens, Fr. Stan Bijak. Dinner followed at the Polish Hall. Entertainment was provided by “Sweet Harmony” Singers.
Sincere thanks to the Sweet Harmony singers, to the organizers and volunteers who assisted and to the attendees of our 10th anniversary celebration and dinner.
Monday, December 29 - Donna Spalton (O'Neill) passed away peacefully at her residence at the age of 84. Called to join her loving husband Philip, now together in God's care. Beloved mother of David (late Janice) and Paula Peterson (Ray) both of Welland. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters; Jack (Av), Ken (Helen), Walter (Lois) , Laurie, Geraldine (Walter) Code. Mrs. Spalton was predeceased by her sister Edna ( Henry) Pennarun. Donna will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher, Sheila, Theresa , Peter, and also by her great-grandchildren Xavier and Zoey. Mrs. Spalton was an active member in the community, she was a member of the Catholic Women's League for many years, the bridge club and Kayettes. Donna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being outdoors, gardening, and boating. She especially loved the sound of the loon.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Welland Funeral Home 827 East Main Street Welland on Sunday, January 4th from 2-4 pm and 7- 9 pm.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, January 5th at Saints Peter and Paul Church at 11am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
If desired donations to the Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Society or Saints Peter and Paul building fund will be greatly appreciated by the family.
