Wednesday, January 10 - Mary Szalinski passed away at the Welland Hospital at the age of 88. Rev. Stan Bijak will conduct the funeral service at the J. J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Saturday, January, 13th at 12:00 p.m. Rite of Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Ernest Podio
passed
away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Thursday, February 1, 2007
at the Welland Hospital at the age of 69. The Funeral Mass was celebrated
in Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Monday, February 5th at 11 o'clock . Rite
of Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In August of 2007, he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage with his loving wife Mary. Beloved father of Carla Matteazzi (Guy) and Ronald John Podio. Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Michael and David Matteazzi. Dear brother of Marie Oliver (Don) and Margaret Lamontagne (Jim), and brother-in-law of Lena Podio, Juliana Crysler, and Caroline Kalwa (Paul). Predeceased by his parents John and Ella Mae, by his brother Frank Podio, and by his sister Loretta Pratt (Frank). Survived by several nieces and nephews. A dedicated family man, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ron loved to work in his garden, and delighted in sharing his harvest with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing fastball, and was an avid musician. Memorial remembrances to the Welland Hospital Foundation or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.

The Rosary Society has recently offered a special gift to our church of new ALTAR CLOTH with two FRONTALS (white and green). They will add to enrich our celebrations for all our our liturgical seasons. Thank you very much!

Sunday, April 29 - 2:30 p.m. - The Sweet Harmony Choir under the leadership of Mrs. Kay Brown, presented a joyfull selection of mostly sacred, and also some popular, Broadway and movie tunes intended to raise your spirits. Free will offering. Proceeds of the concert were donated to Sts. Peter and Paul Church.

passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital at the age of 88.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Friday,
May 4th at 10 o'clock. Rite of Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Beloved husband of the late Sophie Najbert (1992). Dear father of Richard (Bozena) Najbert, Linda Szubzda, George (Elizabeth) Najbert and Susan (late John) Marczynski. Cherished grandfather of Suzy (Don) Lafleur, Wanda Szubzda (Joe Davidson), Lynn and Vicky Szubzda; Christine (Craig) Evans, Basia (Matthew) Smith and Joanne (Anthony) Santostefano; Ken (Patti) Najbert, Kathy (Brian) Carter and Karen Najbert; and Helen and Carolyn Marczynski. Loving great-grandfather of 14 great-grandchildren. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Poland. Predeceased by his parents Wladyslaw and Maria Najbert, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Thomas was a veteran of World War II, and a proud member of the Polish Legion Branch 558 and the Polish Society in Welland. He was an active member of the Polish Combatant's Association Branch 27 in St. Catharines. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Sts. Peter and Paul Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.

celebration during the Mass. He gave the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the
Sacrament of Confirmation to Robert Jeffrey

Joseph Roberts. After the Mass both famillies
invited family, parishioners and friends to a reception in the Parish Hall.

of 96. The Funeral Mass was celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church on

Beloved wife of the late Anthony (Tony) Drozda (2000). Dear mother of Peter Drozda and his wife Linda of Kentucky. Cherished grandmother of Lisa and her husband Jim of Airdrie, AB and Kristen of Vancouver, BC, and great-grandmother of MacKenzie and Keigan of Airdrie, AB. Predeceased by her daughter Agnes (1994), sisters Anna and Rosie and brothers Rudy, Peter and Victor.
Tuesday, June 26 - Martha Kochaniec passed away at the Welland Hospital at the age of 83. The Funeral service took place on Friday, June 29th at the Welland Funeral Home chapel. Rite of Committal at Pleasantview Cemetery.

passed away suddenly at his home in his 83rd year.
Beloved husband of the late Adele Macko (nee Jaroslawski) (1989). Loving father of Kathleen Pahowski. Joe was a Firefighter with Crowland Township and the City of Welland and was a Captain and assistant Fire Marshall when he retired. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 where he played darts.
The family received their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Wednesay September 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the Royal Canadian Legion service will be held at 7 p.m. and the funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Fonthill Cemetery. Saturday, September 29 - Mary Trotz (Graf) passed away in her 88th year. The family received relatives and friends at the Cudney Funeral Home in Welland on Sunday, September 30th from 7 PM to 9 PM and on Monday, October 1st from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. Vigil prayers were recited on Monday evening on 8 PM. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts Peter and Paul Church on Tuesday,
October 2nd at 11:00 AM. Rite of committal followed at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Sts Peter & Paul Building Fund or C.N.I.B. in Mary's memory.

a resident of the Extended Care Unit for many years, passed away at the Welland Hospital with her family at her side in her 80th year. Predeceased by her husband Ercole and by her daughter Maurizia. Loving mother of Lucy Ventresca (Frank), Rosanna Cosby (Kevin) and Robert Pala. Cherished grandmother of Marisa Ventresca, Marco Ventresca and Yvon Gosselin (Carrie); and great grandmother of Riley and Hailey. Dear sister of Ada DiMarcantonio (Fernando) and John Fiore (Anna) of Welland; Francesco, Fernando, Franco, Bettina, Luigi, and their families, of Italy. Sister-in-law of Yolanda D’Andrea, Annuziata Pala and Ida Pala of Welland; Anna and Pasquale of Italy. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Guido and Pasqua Fiore and sister Adalgisa. Maria worked for many years as a cook at the Blue Star Restaurant. She was devoted to her family, and was always willing to help others.
The family received their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where a Vigil was held at 3 p.m.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Peter announce his sudden passing at his home on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Genevieve (nee Silvestri) for 56 years. Loving father of David Peter, Lorraine Wigmore (Steve) and Janet Peter. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Evan Wigmore. Loving son-in-law of Natalie Silvestri. Dear brother of Elsie Hircsu, Edna Peter, Ann Newsom (John) and brother-in-law of Irene Peter, Anthony Silvestri (Joy), and Joanne Silvestri. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Domokos and Christina Peter, brothers John and Zoli and father-in-law Erminio Silvestri. Lawrence retired in 1985 as Staff Sergeant after 35 years with the Crowland, Welland and Niagara Regional Police Services. He was a member, reader and usher at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, member of Sts. Peter and Paul Seniors and Past President with U.E. Seniors. Lawrence also loved to hunt and garden.
The family received their friends at J. J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday, December 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil was held at 3 o’clock.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated in Sts Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 22nd at 11 AM.
Rite of Committal followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
