Wednesday, January 4 - Domenico DeAngelis  passed away at the Niagara Health System's Welland General Hospital Site. Funeral Mass 11:00am, Monday, January 9 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Interment at Pleasantview Mausoleum.

Beloved husband to Adamina (nee Marcolin) for 49 years and loving father to Carlo (Brenda) of Ancaster, George (Nanci) of Niagara Falls, Luigi (Judy) of Welland and beloved Nonno to Tanya, Sarah, Laura, Danielle, Christina, Randy, Brandon, Jordan and Laura. Domenico was a dear brother to Fioravante (Lidia), Esterina (Dante), brother-in-law to Olga, and predeceased by his brother Fibino and parents Gaetano and Lellina all of Belgium. Brother-in-law to Rocco and Teresa Di Gaetano of Welland. Domenico will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Saturday, January 7  - 5:00 p.m. - Our children, under the direction of Mrs. Krys Kelly, performed a special Christmas presentation during our evening Mass.

Monday, January 16  - 1:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club meeting in our parish hall.  A guest speaker will address our members.

Monday, February 6  - 12:30 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club held their Annual “POT LUCK” LUNCHEON meeting in our parish hall. Lunch will be served 12:30 PM sharp.  Therefore bring your food contribution at least ½ hour earlier. For those who have not indicated their food contribution, please do so by calling Edna Meleskie at  (905) 734-7276.

Thursday, February 9 - Wladyslaw (Walter) Kominiak  passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the Welland Hospital, in his 84th year. Funeral Mass 11:00am, Saturday, February 11 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Beloved husband of Alfreda (nee Stepien) for over 50 years. He will be sadly missed by daughters, Danuta (Frank) Pate of Welland, Sabina (Vince) Di Napoli of Niagara Falls, and Monika (Anthony) Sekli of London. Beloved grandfather of Sara, Dario, Victoria, Evan and Marko. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother and nieces and nephews in Poland. Wladyslaw was a member of the Canadian Polish Society and had worked at Wabasso Cotton Mill.

Monday, February 20 - Jean Zezela (Guzda)  passed away at the Niagara Health System's St. Catharines General Hospital Site at the age of 89. Funeral Mass 10:00am, Thursday, February 23 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

She is reunited with her husband Peter who passed in 1990. Loving mother of Wayne Zezela (Madeleine) and Sandra Tomaszewski (John). She will remain forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Julie and Jamie Zezela (Terri), and Christine Tomaszewski. Grandmama will be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren Andrew, Kaitlyn, Zachary and Breyden. Dear sister of Paul Guzda (Mary) and Stella Andrusiw-Smith. Mrs. Zezela was predeceased by her son Joseph, brothers Peter, Joseph and Eddy Guzda, and sisters Annie Baranoski, Bernice Pohonick, Olga Kozar and Mary Marchyn.

Thursday, March 2 - Gilberte "Gigi" Bacon (Rompre)  passed away at the Millenium Trail Manor in Niagara Falls at the age of 90. Funeral Mass 10:30am, Saturday, March 4 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Gigi is reunited with her beloved husband Gerard who passed in 1969. She leaves many fond memories for her daughter Muriel Simpson, grandson Patrick Simpson (Monique) and great-grandchildren Michael, Mathieu, Sarah, and Kathryn. Dear sister of Marie-Marthe Boisvert (late Etienne). Remembered with love by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Cecile Comptois (late Gerard), Alice Masson (late Maxime), and Flore Poisson (late Antonio).

Thursday, March 2 - Stella Saliniewicz (Zawitkoski)passed away at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, Ontario. Committal prayers and internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Welland on Wednesday, March 8 at 11:00 AM.  Stella was a member of the auxiliary of the Polish Legion Branch 558 Welland, a longtime member of the Polish Canadian Society in Welland, a honourary member of Sts. Peter and Paul Living Rosary Society and a long time parishioner of Sts Peter and Paul Church before moving to Woodstock to be with her daughter.

Monday, March 6 - 1:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club meeting in the parish hall.  A guest speaker addressed our members.

Thursday, March 23 - 6:30 p.m. - Parish Council meeting in the rectory.

Saturday, March 25 - Fr. Roger Bonneau, from the Carmelite Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, led our Lenten Retreat in English.

Monday, April 3 - 1:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club meeting in the parish hall.  A guest speaker addressed our members.

Monday, April 10 - 1:00 p.m. - Rosary Society meeting at one o’clock in the parish hall.

Monday, May 1 - 1:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club meeting in the parish hall.

Wednesday, May 3 - 9:30 a.m. - A WORK PARTY  to cleanup the church property and the parking lot for our upcoming Confirmation and mortgage burning celebrations was held on Saturday, June 10th. Sincere thanks to Stan Adamczyk, Damiano Caporicci, John Dybus, Andy Kukoly, Ernie Meleskie, Ivon Vienne, Joe Sobiesiak and Bill Sydor for their participation.

Saturday, May 6 - 5:00 p.m. - Our Rosary Society attended 5 o’clock Mass to celebrate the Month of May dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Saturday, May 20 - 5:00 p.m. - Our pastor Fr. Stan Bijak invited all parishioners and friends of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish to come out and meet the deacon candidates of the Diocese of St. Catharines. We also welcomed as deacon of the Mass and homilist, Deacon Jack Gauthier.

Sunday, May 21 - BAPTISMCHRZEST SW. We welcome to the Christian Family KONRAD KAROL FUKS and wish him God’s blessing during his journey through life with Jesus Christ.

Thursday, May 25 - Helena Swioklo (Tibet) passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 82.
Rev. Stan Bijak will conduct the funeral service at the J. J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Monday, May 29th at 1 p.m. Cremation will then take place prior to a private family interment service at the family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Sunday, May 28 - Nicola (Nick) Gallaccio  With thanksgiving for his long and fulfilling life, the family of Nicola (Nick) Gallaccio sadly announce his passing at the Welland Hospital on Sunday, May 28, 2006 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Adelina of 59 years. Loving father of Tony and his wife Barbara, and Mario and his wife Lorraine. Cherished grandfather of Alicia (Chris Caporicci), Lauren, Nick (Cathy) and Lisa (Chad Chevalier). Dear great grandfather of Madelyn and Saige Gallaccio. Predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters in Italy. Nick was born in Caserta, Italy and served as a Military Police Officer in the Arma dei Carabinieri prior to immigrating to Welland in 1951. He was employed by the City of Welland in the Public Works Department until his retirement in 1986. Nick had a passion for listening to the opera and classical music and playing along with his guitar. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He had a great love for his family and will be missed dearly.

Visitations: took place at the J. J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Monday, May 29th from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Rev. Stan Bijak conducted a Prayer Vigil on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Funeral Mass:  was celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 31st at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations were accepted for the Canadian Diabetes Association and Sts. Peter and Paul Church Building Fund.

Monday, May 29 -Special thanksto the following parishioners who did a beautiful job cleaning the interior of the church: Alicja Adamczyk, Diane Bartlett, Letizia Caporicci, Leokadia Garbowski, Joyce Kukoly, Cecile Lanteigne, Edna Meleskie, Genevieve Peter, Janina Sobiesiak, Alice Stempien and Bill Sydor.

Friday, June 2 -Special thanks to the following parishioners who did a wonderful job doing some exterior cleanup and applying woodchips around the shrubs: Damiano Caporicci, Andy Kukoly, Ernie Meleski and Bill Sydor.

Saturday, June 10We also congratulate Fr. Benedict (Ben) Vanco and wish him abundant Christ‘s blessings as he celebrated his Golden Jubilee of Priesthood. Ordained in 1956, Fr. Ben was our parish priest from 1958 to 1962.
Saturday, June 10 - 5:00 p.m. -  Bishop James Wingle was in our parish today celebrating the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation to Bernadette-Barbara Evalina Petruniak. We congratulate her and wish her many of God’s blessings.

Saturday, June 10 - 6:30 p.m. - A WINE AND DINNER PARTY to celebrate the pay-off of the parish mortgage was held at the Polish-Canadian Association Hall. Tickets were $20 per person.

                    Fr. Stan would like to express his gratitude to the Parish Council and those parishioners who did such a wonderful job with the Wine and Dinner party. In attendance were Bishop Wingle and Fr. Ben Vanco who celebrated his 50 years of Priesthood today. It was simply great!

                    Many parishioners donated their time and talents, offered their work and service for free as well as supported the event in so many other ways. Special thanks to the Canadian-Polish Association of Welland for the free use of their hall.  Net income from the banquet of $1,078.15 went to the Building Fund. God bless you all!

Monday, June 19 - 2:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club held a BBQ & games afternoon at the home of Ernie & Edna Meleskie.
Saturday, July 15 - BAPTISM: We cordially welcome newly baptized EASTON SKYE McCOMBER to the big family of the followers of Jesus Christ. We wish her and her loved ones an abundance of grace in their life's journey with Jesus Christ.

Saturday, November 4 - BAPTISM: We cordially welcome newly baptized TRISTAN  LUKE  PLANTE to the big family of the followers of Jesus Christ and wish him and his dear ones to walk always hand in hand with Christ during his life long journey.

Monday, November 6 - 1:00 p.m. - Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors Club will meet in the Parish Hall. We will have nominations and election of officers for year 2007. Members are reminded to bring to the meting their contributions and donations for the upcoming „Bazaar”, bing held in the parish hall on Sunday Nov. 19th beteen 12:00 - 3:00 PM.

Saturday, November 18 - BAPTISM: Our over one billion member Christian family cordially welcomes newly baptized JAYNE  ALEXANDRA  BULIUNG.Our congratulations to her dear ones and best wishes of many, many of God’s blessings.

Thursday, November 30 - Thomas Sydor  passed away peacefully at Rapelje Lodge in his 91st year. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1:30pm, Monday, December 4 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.

Beloved husband of Olga (nee Dolishny) for over 60 years. Dear father of Richard and his wife Marcia of California. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Carter and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers George, William and Michael and parents Bartok and Anna Sydor. Tom was born in Montreal and moved to Welland in 1918. He was employed with Page Hersey and Reliant Electric before joining the Niagara South Board of Education where he worked for 14 years before retiring in 1981. Tom was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Sts. Peter and Paul Seniors Club and United Electric Union Seniors Retirees. He was activily involved in Scouting in the early formation of Troup #9 of Sts. Peter and Paul. Tom served overseas with the Canadian Army during WW2 and attained the rank of Gun Sergeant with The Royal Canadian Artillery of the 33 Battery 6th Anti Tank Regiment – 2nd Corps. Tom saw action in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany remaining with the Occupational Army after cessation of hostilities. He was mentioned in a news dispatch at the battle of Shoendyike, Holland and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 in Welland and a former member of the Colour Party.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 PM sharp!
