World Youth Day
Fr. Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., National Director and CEO, said: “World Youth Day was an invitation to all people of good will to rejoice in the gift of our young people and to work together for a world of hope, justice, and lasting peace. Millions of people found inspiration and goodness in the events. For this reason we turn to the public to assist us with donations to help cover the expenses of this great event that has touched our country and our world. Any support you can give us toward this project for young people is an investment in a bright future of hope and peace."

On behalf of the 23 Polish WYD2002 pilgrims their leader, Father Dariusz Kreihs, sends warm greetings from Poland to all of the host families as well as an assurance of their prayers for our Parish intention. E-mail:darihs@kki.net.pl

WORLD YOUTH DAY COLLECTIONS
When our Holy Father, Pope John II entrusted the Pilgrimage Cross to the Canadian Delegation on Palm Sunday, the final preparations for the World Youth approaching, money is needed to pay for the preparations. The Bishops of Canada agreed that all the Dioceses would share the cost of the preparations. They decided to have two special collections in each Diocese with two-thirds of the proceeds available for the National Organizing Committee and one-third to offset the diocesan cost.

Holy Father John Paul II received the gift of a new "popemobile" at the end of last Wednesday’s general audience. The Holy Father expressed appreciation for the vehicle, an M 430 Mercedes-Benz, colored mother-of-pearl, which he received from representatives of the German-U.S. firm Daimler Chrysler. The vehicle will be inaugurated in Toronto during World Youth Day. Weather permitting, John Paul II crosses St. Peter’s Square for his general audiences in a white vehicle that enables him to greet thousands of pilgrims up close. Following the 1981 attempt on his life, greater security measures were adopted, including "popemobile." It has bulletproof glass and has been used in most of John Paul II´s international apostolic visits. Daimler has donated several automobiles to popes since 1930. They may be viewed today in the Vatican’s Museum of Papal Carriages.
